Internet portal ArmLur.am speak with Catalan academic, History Professor in University Alfred Bosch about war in Nagorno Karabakh.
-Mr Bosch, what do you think about Karabakh conflict and what you think, how it can resolved?
I can give no lessons, even less on a situation with which I’m not familiar in depth. I would say the main rules are the same everywhere, the same I would like to see applied to my country, Catalonia. Peace and Democracy must prevail. We are not in the Middle Ages.
-The UN, the Minsk Group, the EU have all called for an immediate ceasefire yet the fighting continues, what expect from the international community?
The International community tends to be slow and sometimes undecided. Plus, the World needs the collaboration of local communities in order to help in finding solutions. But whenever the chance arises, Multilateral organisms should favour Peace and Democracy, which includes respect to individual and collective human rights.
-Nagorno-Karabakh has been independent for almost 30 years. Why didn’t any country recognize it? What we can wait from Catalunya?
-The Catalan Parliament has already expressed its position on NK, which is by the way much clearer and braver than that of major parliaments around the globe.
-What can you say about Turkey role now?
-Like any other country, Turkey must uphold the essential rules for living together in this Earth. Peace and Democracy must prevail.
It should be reminded that the Parliament of Catalonia adopted a statement on October 21 calling for an end to hostilities in Nagorno Karabakh, condemned the attacks on civilians by the Azerbaijani armed forces, supported constructive talks between the parties aimed at a peaceful settlement of the conflict. be based on the will of the majority of the people of Nagorno Karabakh.
